Join key leaders from independent academic medical centers around the country at Connecting Education to Exceptional Patient Care 2020 Annual Meeting.  Our conference theme of Forecasting the Educational Impact on the Future of Healthcare will be delivered by outstanding, nationally- recognized speakers in an atmosphere of networking and dialogue you won’t find at any other national meeting.  Key topics will include the C-Suite perspective, quality and safety, service vs. cost, leadership and teaming.

Mark Hertling, DBA, Lieutenant General, US Army (retired), will provide the keynote address.  Often seen on CNN as their senior military analyst, Dr. Hertling retired from the US Army in 2013 after 38 years of service.  He was appointed by President Obama to be one of 25 members of the President’s Council on Fitness, Sport and Nutrition from 2014-2017 and now serves as an advisor to the Advent Health Leadership Institute.  Dr. Hertling received a Doctorate in Business Administration from the Crummer School at Rollins College, defending a thesis addressing leadership in the healthcare industry. His book, Growing Physician Leaders, was published in May 2016.

The 2020 Annual Meeting will be held at the at the spectacular Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa.  Secluded in the rolling hill country of Austin, the Omni Barton Creek and Spa recently re-opened following an extensive 150 + million-dollar renovation.  The 4,000-acre resort features seven restaurants, a brand new Mokara Spa, a multi-tiered poolscape and four championship golf courses.  Our conference rate is just $259/night.

Pre-Conference Book Club (Optional: pre-registration required)

Back by popular demand is the 3rd Annual AIAMC Book Club!  This year’s selected readings are:

1.      Rafael Campo article and poems:  https://harvardmagazine.com/2019/05/poetry-medicine-doctor

2.      Carver poem:  https://www.poeticous.com/raymond-carver/what-the-doctor-said

We are taking the hypothesis that literature has something to teach us about the humanity of medicine, a much- needed tonic for our times.  The format of this session will be thought provoking and provide an interactive method designed to increase awareness of humanity in medicine.  Please note that seating is limited and pre-registration is required.
