On September 18th, the President issued a proclamation entitled, “Restriction on Entry of Certain Nonimmigrant Workers”.  This executive order essentially states that employers sponsoring new H1-B visas will be subject to a $100,000 fee per employee per year………which would result in AIAMC members potentially paying out millions of dollars.  

This executive order has wreaked havoc on graduate medical education programs, and just as the interview season is getting underway.  We certainly understand that this is a fluid issue which will likely change and morph over the next several months; however, any tips we can provide AIAMC members – for understanding the proclamation and knowing what questions to ask their hospital’s legal counsel, at least – is something we wish to provide.
