Growing GME: A Path to Success

Successful models for growing GME exist and follow similar patterns: engaging leadership, ensuring funding, and meeting the needs of the population. Join the Alliance of Independent Academic Medical Centers (AIAMC) and the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine’s Assembly of Osteopathic Graduate Medical Educators (AOGME) for a half-day virtual conference to explore methods to succeed in expanding GME to meet the goals of your institution, local area and/or region, and to address the nation’s healthcare needs.

The program will kick off with a spotlight on a successful partnership between Ocean University Medical Center, Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine and Hackensack Meridian Health. This partnership is leveraging GME to build the physician workforce and better meet the needs of the community. Leaders of these institutions will share how they built their partnership and share lessons that could assist future strategic alliances.

The program will include updates on GME funding and legislation, and a presentation from the Health Resource and Services Administration (HRSA) on building and expanding GME. There will be ample opportunity for audience members to interact and discuss methods to develop GME to its maximum potential.
