Family Medicine Program Director

Job Description / Duties

Bayhealth is seeking an experienced Program Director, Family Medicine who will continue to elevate their Family Medicine Residency Program with an unwavering commitment to graduate medical education. Bayhealth is committed to providing hands-on graduate and undergraduate medical education in a nurturing environment while providing advanced medical technology, progressive treatment options, state-of-the-art equipment, and extensive consumer health education programs. Bayhealth partners with several regional medical schools, including Drexel University College of Medicine and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). The health system has served as a Core Clinical Campus for PCOM for the past five years.

In 2019, Bayhealth established its Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs in Family Medicine and Internal Medicine and has grown the programs each year. The Family Medicine program is approved for a total of 24 residents (8/8/8) and just graduated their first class in June 2024. Bayhealth GME programs now also include General Surgery and Emergency Medicine. A total of nearly 90 residents are in the GME programs as of March 2024. This year, Bayhealth added the state’s first Hematology/Oncology Fellowship program.

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer and Designated Institutional Official (DIO), the Program Director will have general oversight and executive managerial responsibility for the Family Medicine residency’s recruiting, curriculum development and educational programs, clinical research as well as all other aspects of the residency Program. In addition, the Program Director will oversee members of the Residency Program's administrative support team.


Qualifications / Required Skills

The Program Director will be an experienced medical educator in family medicine with a track record of building educational programs for family medicine residents.  They will be skilled at building programs that attract the best candidates prepared for immersive training in a family medicine residency program

Successful candidates will be skilled at leading educational programs in compliance with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The Program Director will set standards for the residency program and medical education and hold physicians and residents accountable for their respective metrics and goals related to patient care, education and scholarly activity. The Program Director will foster an environment that values and supports educational programs and work to build and strengthen the Family Medicine Residency program.
