Job Description / Duties

North Mississippi Health Services (NMHS) seeks a physician to join their leadership team to serve as the Designated Intuitional Official (DIO). The ideal candidate is a seasoned physician leader who has already served as a DIO and is well-versed in GME programs.

This newly created position will be appointed at a vice president level and be a part of the senior leadership of NMHS. The DIO will play an integral role in helping NMHS a work toward their goal of adding additional programs and becoming a leading community-based graduate medical education center. NMHS is one of the most successful rural health systems in the country and has a very strategic leadership team.

The Designated Institutional Official (DIO) is responsible for ensuring that all graduate medical education (GME) programs at the institution follow the standards of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The DIO also serves as a liaison between the institution and the ACGME and is responsible for representing the institution on ACGME committees and task forces.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Required

 Licenses and Certifications - MD - Doctor of Medicine Or DO - Doctor of Osteopathy Required

 Work Experience - 1-3 years Experience as DIO, program director, or faculty Required

 Experience in starting a new residency program Preferred

       Experience in GME administration or a related field Required

       Strong understanding of ACGME standards Required

The health care system also includes community hospitals in Amory, Eupora, Iuka, Pontotoc and West Point, Mississippi and Hamilton Alabama; a regional network of more than 70 primary and specialty clinics; four nursing homes, home health services and telehealth.
