Associate Chief Academic Officer for GME
Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) Health System seeks an
innovative and collaborative physician leader to serve as its next Associate
Chief Academic Officer for Graduate Medical Education (ACAO for GME). CAMC
sponsors 21 ACGME-accredited residency and fellowship programs with more than
190 training positions and major affiliations with West Virginia University and
the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. CAMC also sponsors two
ACGME-accredited residency programs at CAMC Greenbrier Valley Medical Center
(GVMC), a wholly owned subsidiary of CAMC located in Ronceverte West, West
Virginia.
CAMC Health System is a subsidiary of Vandalia Health, Inc.
(“Vandalia”) which is comprised of nine hospitals, including CAMC General
Hospital, CAMC Memorial Hospital, CAMC Teays Valley Hospital, CAMC Women and
Children’s Hospital, CAMC GVMC, Monongalia County General Hospital, Preston
Memorial Hospital, Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital and Mon Health Marion
Neighborhood Hospital. Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, West Virginia will
join the system on May 1, 2023.
Reporting to the Chief Academic Officer, the ACAO for GME will
serve as Designated Institutional Official (DIO) and work closely with the ACAO
for Research and the ACAO for Health Sciences and Professional Education. The
ACAO for GME has authority and responsibility for the institutional
accreditation of CAMC as a sponsoring institution by the Accreditation Council
for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). In addition, the ACAO for GME is
responsible for oversight of CAMC’s learning environment, including the
maintenance and expansion of effective partnerships with educational
institutions.
The successful candidate will be an innovative, educational leader
and strong collaborator with at least five years of experience as a leader in
GME in an academic healthcare setting with an MD/DO or equivalent, West
Virginia licensure or eligibility and board certification in a related area of
specialization. Candidates should possess a record of progressive leadership in
academic medicine, and a national reputation of significant involvement within
the academic medicine community. The successful ACAO will need to possess
exceptional team building skills, communication skills, financial acumen and
the potential to lead change in an ever-changing healthcare and academic
environment.
