Assistant Director for Clinical UME and GME

 

Bloomington IN, WittKieffer has been retained by Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM), Bloomington to lead the recruitment of their next Assistant Director (AD) for Clinical Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) and Graduate Medical Education (GME).  The AD will serve as the Assistant Designated Institutional Officer (ADIO) for the campus.  

 

IU School of Medicine is the largest medical school in the country with more than 20,000 living alumni and 3,000 learners on nine campuses across the state. Its diverse faculty is made up of more than 2,900 full-time members and over 3,700 volunteer faculty who are responsible for training medical, graduate and postgraduate students. 

 

Located in South Central Indiana, the IUSM-Bloomington campus is an actively growing full four-year medical school campus that currently hosts approximately 100 medical students across all four years of the Doctor of Medicine program. Additionally, the campus will tentatively enter the 2024 Match as a new IUSM graduate medical clinical site with residencies in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine. 

 

Medical students are taught in the new IU-Bloomington Health Sciences Building, which includes inter-professional SIM Center. The campus is supported by a brand new IU Health hospital a level 3 trauma and level 2 NICU. The IU Health Bloomington Hospital serves as a regional referral center for the entire South-Central region of Indiana.  

 

The AD will develop a strategic approach to the continuum of UME and GME and advocate for the academic programs. She/He will work to develop both undergraduate and graduate clinical rotations within IUSM-Bloomington and will monitor and provide oversight of faculty development within each program. She/He will provide the leadership for bringing infrastructure and systems together that provide education excellence and an outstanding culture for clinical medical education at all levels. 

 

This position reports into both the IUSM Associate Dean and Director who also serves as the Chief Academic Officer for IU Health South Central Region located in Bloomington and the Designated Institutional Official of the IUSM, located in Indianapolis.  She/He will possess exceptional relational and team-building skills to work across disciplines, departments and the health system to orchestrate a system-wide focus on the UME and GME mission.  The successful candidate will be a M.D./D.O. with experience in GME and will have a demonstrated track record of championing excellence, leading change and fostering engagement.
