Director of Learning Infrastructure and Operations

Job Description / Duties

Education Infrastructure Operations is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating medical education operations and infrastructure of Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH) and Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), which include academic facilities, education technology, and other education infrastructure activities. Develops, implements, and communicates policies, procedures, and processes to support the operations of educational facilities, technologies, and other academic support systems, including special projects, proposals, metrics, analytics, processes, and other education practices. Plans, organizes, controls, and coordinates education programs and projects, ensuring that the appropriate resources and processes are in place and project scope, timeframe, and budget requirements are met. Directs the implementation, execution, control, and completion of multiple, simultaneous activities ensuring consistency with BSWH education strategy, commitments, and goals. Interacts with senior leadership, internal departments, and external stakeholders to enable, facilitate, and support BSWH education and business objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

Directs education operations and infrastructure for BSWH, Baylor College of Medicine-Temple, and its affiliates.

Collaborates with IT, Facilities and other BSWH departments to develop and design the most appropriate education technology and academic facility services and deliverables

Directs field technology support for the medical education center (MEC) and medical research building (MRB), including classrooms, faculty and staff offices, conference rooms, student support offices, and student lounges.

Leads the planning, construction, and maintenance of academic facilities and building operations on the BSWH campus.

Directs the capital/equipment budgeting and planning, space allocation and layout, and maintenance planning and contracting of education systems and security systems.

Evaluates, assesses, and improves educational technologies, operational programs, procedures, and support services for BSWH Education.

Monitors and coordinates the set up and tear down of furniture when special classroom setups are required, including installation and maintenance of audio-visual technology and other presenter support.

Leads and directs the scheduled recordings for academic sessions or special presentations utilizing the appropriate media and digital technologies (e.g. Vbrick), ensuring timely availability of recordings for learners and faculty.

Ensures the delivery of instructional technology support to faculty and staff in the use of the learning management system and online testing platforms.

Develops, monitors, and reports on education operations statistics, annual technology evaluations, compliance, and quality assurance reviews.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Technology, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

5+ years of relevant experience, including medical education, education operations, and education technologies.

1+ years of experience in a leadership role.

Experience supporting instructor-led, web-based, and digital media instruction in higher education and/or a teaching healthcare system environment.

Knowledge in current learning management systems and other instructional technologies.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Skills in project management and vendor management.
